I admire Gandhi, but I have heard from Indian friends that he set India back in some respects. Although the Indian peoples were not respected under English
rule, the English were responsible for much of the country's economic growth and cultural development. Many of India's major cities were developed by
foreigners. I haven't researched the issue in any depth, so I can't comment. I don't think it's fair to describe Gandhi as a "skinny
little communist," though, considering the fact that he never espoused Marxist values.
